Our Church Structure

Christ Church is considered a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. We are overseen by our bishop, The Right Reverend Robert C. Wright, and we are a part of the network of churches that make up the Episcopal Church in the U.S.A., which is part of the broader worldwide Anglican Communion. This network provides accountability and a framework with which we identify and in which we function.. We are led by our Rector, the Reverend Cynthia C. Knapp, who serves as the lead pastor & priest of the parish, overseeing clergy & staff. Our clergy and staff welcome you to call them by their first name and are happy to assist you and help you learn more about our parish. We function very much as a team seeking to meet the needs of the parish and to lead the church in growing in faith as a community of faith, fellowship, and ministry.

Leadership

We have a leadership board of 12 lay people called the vestry who seek to model Christian leadership in the church and serve alongside the rector. This board is chaired by our wardens and other executive officers. The vestry represents the parish in decision making and each member serves a three-year term with each member shepherding a particular area of ministry.

The Priesthood of All Believers

We believe that all baptized Christians are called to be disciples of Christ, to serve in His name, and to be empowered and directed by the Holy Spirit.  To learn about growing in your faith, explore our Christian Education page. If you would like to learn more, please contact our clergy and staff who would be happy to speak with you and to help you discern how and where the Lord might be leading you to serve and to grow.
