ASSOCIATE PRIEST

Christ Church is a vibrant, growing, multigenerational church in downtown Macon, Georgia. The first parish in Macon and the mother church of the diocese of Atlanta, we have about 700 members and far more in some way connected to the parish. We have a wonderful staff with a healthy work environment and a strong lay ministry with whom we partner in ministry. We provide opportunities for all ages for spiritual growth and fellowship, joyful worship, an excellent music program for all ages, healing ministry, and extensive opportunities for outreach ministry including our own program for meeting the needs of the food insecure, Weekend Lunch. We help people discern and develop their own gifts for ministry and have 5 lay ministers licensed to minister anywhere in the diocese of Atlanta. Our laity are actively involved in the ministry of the church and community in many ways.  We love to celebrate life together- often enjoying our beautiful weather outdoors. Our church draws from about a 45-minute radius in any direction.

Macon is a thriving city in the heart of Georgia known for its live music scene, revitalized and growing downtown, and proximity to Atlanta, the mountains, and the coast. Macon is home to three institutions of higher learning that help to support a very affordable cosmopolitan community that enjoys the arts and entertainment. We work in conjunction with the larger body of Christ and other communities of faith to serve the middle Georgia area more effectively. Position Description

The assistant priest shares in many of the responsibilities of the rector under the rector’s supervision. These include:

  • Assisting regularly with preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and sacraments, including participation in Sunday and weekday or special Services (this evolves for a newly graduated deacon).
  • Providing support for Christian education for adults in conjunction with the Adult Education Team.
  • Provide support for men’s ministry and Bible Study.
  • Work to develop and implement ways to better reach those outside the parish.
  • Work as a team with the clergy, staff, and lay leaders.
  • Further developing a ministry according to the gifting of the candidate.

Qualifications

Mature faith, heart for the Lord, and desire to serve
MDIV  from an Episcopal Seminary or Anglican studies program.
Ordination to the priesthood or in that processRelationship builder, warm and friendly
Strong preacher, teacher, communicator
Competent in the use of current technology in ministry
Strong work ethic, self-motivated
Discipleship and evangelism
Good people skills including children

Salary consistent with the diocese and commensurate with experience and strong benefits package

NURSERY WORKER

Christ Church, the Episcopal Church on Walnut street downtown, is looking for additional caregivers to be part of the rotation to work in the nursery on Sundays, and special occasions. Hours are Sunday mornings, 9:15 – 12:00, with the opportunity for the addition of occasional Sunday or Wednesday evenings (when we have a program), and Vacation Bible School June 3-6 4:30-7:00. The pay is $15/hr with a $20 minimum for any given event. We have at least two people working at any given time. Qualifications: Loving, patient character with child care (infant and toddler) experience. References, background check, and drug screening required.
