April Recap

April Recap:

April was a jam packed month from start to finish.
We started out the month on Holy Wednesday, April 1, by taking time during Holy Week for a luncheon to honor the Altar Guild, Flower Guild, and everyone else who gives their time to serve during our worship.
On Maundy Thursday, April 2, we walked in Jesus’ steps on his last night with his disciples, sharing a meal in Jones Chapel, having Communion for the bread and wine of the table, washing one another’s feet, and then journeying out into the “garden” for the Stripping of the Altar.
On Good Friday, April 3, we held a simple, solemn noon service to remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross.
On Saturday, April 4, our young families gathered, graciously hosted by the Joneses, for an Easter egg hunt.
Later that evening, we joined the people of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for the Great Vigil of Easter.
On Easter Day, April 5, we celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus surrounded by flowers.
On April 14 and 15, workmen came to excavate the time capsule left in the cornerstone of the Parish House when it was constructed 100 years ago in 1926. The contents were displayed the next Sunday during the Bishop’s visit and he blessed a collection of mementos of our Bicentennial to be placed in a new time capsule for the future.
On Sunday, April 19, the Rt. Rev. Robert Wright, Bishop of Atlanta visited and held a Q&A forum followed by a Confirmation service at which 13 youth and 13 adults were Confirmed or Received.
Finally, on Sunday, April 26, the Hollidays hosted a Newcomer party in their lovely garden where we welcomed many of those who have come to Christ Church in the past six months.
On to May!
