  The Very Rev. Dr. J. Wesley Smith
Rector

The Very Reverend Doctor J. Wesley Smith, Rector, is a native of Savannah, Georgia.  He is the Dean of the Macon Convocation (Deanery) of the Diocese of Atlanta.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Trevecca College in Nashville, a Master of Divinity with a focus in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the University of the South (Sewanee) with a focus in homiletics.   He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve (Chaplain Corps) and served twelve years as an active duty chaplain earlier in his ordained ministry.  He is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War (1990-91) and the conflict in Somalia (1993-94) and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.  

 Prior to coming to Christ Church, Dr. Smith was the Rector of St. David’s Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Kansas and before that was an Assisting Priest at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Olympia, Washington.  Fr. Wesley is a member of the International Order of Saint Luke the Physician, the American Academy of Homiletics, and the American Guild of Organists (AGO); he serves on the Executive Board of the Diocese and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Community Health Works of middle Georgia, and an advisor (former board member) of the Crisis Line/Safe House of Central Georgia (Domestic Violence).

He is married to Kristina (Lanz) Smith and has four grown children.

 

 

 

   
 

The Rev. David Probst
Curate

The Reverend David Probst was born in Columbus and grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He and his wife Marie began dating during their senior year of high school and have been married for seventeen years. David earned his B.A. in psychology from Berry College in Rome Georgia and his M.Div from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Prior to seminary, David was in sales and sales management.

 David and his family moved to Macon from Sugar Hill, Georgia.  David, Marie and their two children, Reid and Dana, are excited about becoming a part of the Christ Church and Macon community.

 

 

 

 

  The Rev. Dr. Tim Klopfenstein
Assisting Priest

The Reverend Doctor Timothy D. Klopfenstein was born in Indiana but grew up in Pensacola, Florida.  He received the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Auburn University, The Master of Science in Meteorology from the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, the Master of Divinity from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee and the Doctor of Ministry degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation, Oxford and Rome now headquartered in South Bend, Indiana.  He is a retired Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

 Prior to joining the staff at Christ Church as an assisting priest he served in various parishes in the Diocese of The Central Gulf Coast where he retired in 2005 having been Rector of St. John’s, Mobile, Alabama for 14 ½ years.

 He is married to Hannah (McKinley) Klopfenstein and has two adult daughters and five grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

  The Rev. Robert Gibson
Assisting Priest

The Rev. Robert B. Gibson is a native of Rochester, New York.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, as well as Bachelors and Masters degrees in Sacred Theology form The Berkeley Divinity School at Yale.  He did further graduate work at The Graduate Theological union in Berkeley, California, The Georgia Association for Pastoral Care in Atlanta, and the Southeast Institute for Group and Family Therapy in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  He is a certified transitional analyst, certified group psychotherapist, as well as a chaplain in the Order of Saint Luke the Physician and a member of Spiritual Directors International.

Experience prior to becoming Chaplain at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in 1994, includes Spiritual Director at Coliseum Psychiatric Hospital, Vicar at St. James, Macon, and Chaplain at Woodward Academy in Middletown, Connecticut. 

He is married to Joy (Hearn) Gibson and has two grown daughters.  Hobbies include visiting his North Georgia Mountain Cabin  and revolutionary war re-enacting.

 

 

 

  The Rev. Kathy Kelly
Deacon

Deacon Kathy Kelly  moved to Macon from Americus, Georgia.  There she served historic Calvary Episcopal Church, where she was ordained as a  Deacon in 1999 by Bishop Henry Loutitt. 

Kathy is a Fellow in The American Association of Pastoral Counselors and also holds a license as a Professional Counselor in Georgia.  After attending Emory and Henry College near Abingdon, VA, Kathy graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in music as a vocalist.  She then received her Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory in 1990 and was trained in pastoral care and counseling at the center now known as The Samaritan Counseling Center in Birmingham.  Raised in the United Methodist Church, Kathy was confirmed into the Episcopal Church at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham in 1992. 

Deacon Kathy is the Bereavement Coordinator for Heartland Hospice (formerly Portsbridge) and is the mother of one daughter, Kate, who is 8.   Kathy assists as Christ Church Deacon in areas of liturgy, pastoral care and counseling.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Robert Parris
Choirmaster/Organist


Dr. Robert Parris is a native of Virginia.  He holds degrees from the University of North Carolina and Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, and has done post-doctoral study in Boston and northern Germany.  He is  the Charles B. Thompson Professor of Music and the University Organist of Mercer University, where he was appointed to the faculty in 1979.  Dr. Parris also serves as an active concert organist and can be found performing at concerts and recitals around the world.

 Dr. Parris has been the Choirmaster and Organist at Christ Church since 2004.  Dr. Parris resides in Macon with his wife, three daughters, and son.

 

 

 

  Lindsay Timms
Director of Christian Education

Lindsay was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and holds a Bachelor Degree in Education from The University of Georgia.  Lindsay has previous experience in event planning, stewardship, and donor relations.  She comes to Christ Church from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.  Lindsay recently moved to Macon with her husband, Chadwick, and their two year old daughter, Emma Grace. 

 

 

 

 

Christy McAdams
Administrative Assistant to the Rector

Christy  is an native of Middle Georgia and is an alumnus of Georgia Military College where she graduated with an Associates in General Studies of Science.  She lives in Macon with her son Christopher and has been employed by Christ Church since 2004.  Her position entails coordinating special events, advertising, maintaining the parish website, producing external publications, and assisting the Rector.   

 

 

 

   
  Jenny Allgauer
Parish Secretary

Jenny is from Warner Robins, but was born in Frankfurt, Germany.  She is a graduate of Houston County High School where she was very active in many student affairs, including ROTC and being a cheerleader.  She worked on her Associates Degree in Marketing at Middle Georgia Technical College and is presently a night student at Georgia Military College pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  She comes to us from Cumulus Broadcasting where she was an administrative and sales assistant, and also worked earlier at Golden Key Realty.  She is single and comes from a family that is active in Shirley Hills Baptist Church of Warner Robins, where she has three younger sisters.  Her position entails maintaining all church records, data bases, and the parish calendar,  outreach assistance,  production of weekly service bulletins, and coordination of baptisms, weddings, and funerals.  She is also assistant to the Curate.       

 

 

 

   
 

 Beverly McFall
Financial Secretary

 Beverly McFall, a native of Atlanta has lived in Warner Robins with her husband, Pat and children Kelly and Kevin, for 20 years.  Beverly, Pat, Kelly and Kevin all graduated from the University of Georgia and enjoy going to all the “Dawg” football games and “Gymdawgs” gymnastics meets. Kelly and her husband have recently moved to Newnan and blessed the family with the cutest grandson ever born.  Kevin is in corporate training with Chick-Fil-A in working out of the Athens area. Beverly has served as  the administrator of All Saints, Warner Robins for the past 11 years and is looking forward to her new responsibilities at Christ Church and working with the great staff . 

 

 

   
  Robert Hubbard
Sexton

Robert Hubbard has worked at Christ Church since 1996 and serves as the Sexton.  Robert is responsible for upkeep of the Christ Church properties, setting up for all services and events, assisting the Meals on Wheels office, and overseeing physical projects at Christ Church.   He can also be seen lending a generous hand during the weekend with the Weekend Lunch program.

 Robert is a native Georgian and currently resides in Lizella with his wife, 3 children, and 5 grandchildren. 

 

 

 

 

Carolyn Simmons
Assistant
Sexton

A long-time employee of Christ Church, Carolyn began her position as Assistant Sexton in 1993.  She handles the upkeep of all Christ Church buildings, handles the set-up for meetings and receptions, and assists the Sexton on daily activities.  Carolyn also serves faithfully as a Deaconess with her church.

 Carolyn has a son, who is deceased, and proudly boasts a loving grandson.

 

 

 

 

Will Dowling
Youth Coordinator

Will was born and raised in Macon, and was baptized and conformed in Christ Church. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout from troop 19, and graduated from Central High School in 2001. He went on to college for a short time before taking a job at GEICO and working there until 2006, when he went back to school at Central Georgia Technical College to get a degree in 3-d Animation.

 

 

 

 

Lucas Garza
Youth Coordinator

Lucas is a Texan, born and raised. He started college at the age of 16 at the Univeristy of North Texas were he attended for two years as part of a program called the Texas Academy of Math and Science (TAMS).

Lucas went on to graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering. For three semesters while at Tech, he co-oped at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. While in Alabama, Lucas participated in two of the school-based programs of Big Brother/Big Sister. During the summer between UNT and Gatech, Lucas led a group of 20 rising high school students in a math and science program called the Texas Pre-freshman Engineering Program (Tex-PREP) at the Univeristy of Texas Pan American. Lucas works in Warner Robins were he provides engineering support to the F-15s.

 

 

 

 

Adam and Heather Richardson
Missionaries to Russia

Christ Church sponsors Heather and Adam Richardson, missionaries to Russia.  Adam and Heather are  training  clergy and lay church leaders in Russia.  Locally, they partner with Moscow Bible Church for local ministry and discipleship.   Nationally, they maintain a growing network of training centers for developing Russian church leaders.  Internationally, they connect Christians in the US to churches in Russia for partnership target  projects.

Adam grew up in Macon and has a BA from Vanderbilt University, and a MABS from Dallas Theological Seminary.    Heather is from Seattle, Washington, and has a BS from Cornell University.    As singles Adam and Heather individually moved to Russia in 1994, and have been living and ministering there ever since.  Heather  ministered on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ in both Moscow and Irkutsk before marrying Adam, and now spends most of her time caring for the needs of the family, but also enjoys evangelism and discipling young Russian women.   Their family includes Benjamin (Pasha)and Jonathan.   You can view their  photo gallery at www.richardsons.ru
