OUTREACH
The
Outreach Committee focuses on reaching into the
community to make a difference in the lives of
others. We are able to do this with
monetary support through the generous gifts of
the congregation and the continuing support of
the Julia Jones Trust as well as the efforts of
volunteers. The Committee meets monthly the Harrold House. We
welcome all who are interested in helping
support our community.

transitional families. They hope to open three
additional homes in the future. The Jack Steppe Day
Life Center provides lunch every Tuesday and snacks
every day. Additionally, they provide groceries and
food for the needy. Another service is a public shower,
laundry, and bathroom. Outreach has two members who
serve on Loaves and Fishes Board of Directors.
Additionally, contributions are
made to the following community programs;
Salvation Army’s Safe House, Habitat for
Humanity, Rebuilding Together, Julia Jones

Discretionary Funds which assist people daily

Pastoral Care
Using this mantra as our guiding principle, the Pastoral
Care Committee operates with this goal: "The
clergy and members of Christ Church will provide
pastoral care, support , and counseling to its members in
time of need and joy."
Together with the clergy, this committee maintains
contact with the homebound and reaches out to meet the needs
of families and individuals in times of birth, illness
and death. Clergy and Lay Eucharistic ministers
take communion into the homes of shut-ins, flowers are
taken from the altar on Sundays to the home or hospital,
and committee members prepare meal for families with new
babies and members recovering from surgery.

Fellowship and Parish Life
Fellowship and fun are a vital element in the life of
Christ Church. In an effort to provide a variety
of opportunities for parish interaction, we each offer a
number of events held in our homes and on the church
grounds. Among our annual get-togethers are the
Family Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic, the Parish Picnic,
the All Hallows Eve. Mass and Festival, newcomer parties
and young adult parties, all which are consistently well
attended.

Life Committee, please click here.
Episcopal Church Women
The ECW
of Christ Church, which supports women in their
ministries, sponsors The Garden Gate Luncheon annually. Eagerly anticipated by our own members and
friends in the community, the event begins with a
festive preview party before the main event. On the day of the
luncheon, the parish house is filled with craft items, baked goods, religious
books and artifacts, jewelry and other goodies.
After a full morning of shopping, our guests look
forward to an impressive luncheon in the Cloister Room. The money netted from the event funds
many worthwhile projects, both the feelings of
camaraderie engendered while working together are
priceless.

Daughters of the King
The Order of the Daughters of the King (DOK)
is organized as a religious order. Each Daughter takes
a lifetime vow to live by the ‘Rule of the Order’. Our
‘Rule of Life’ requires a spiritual discipline of daily
prayer, service, and evangelism. Our bylaws prohibit us
from raising funds. The ‘Rule of Life’ incorporates the
‘Rule of Prayer’ and the ‘Rule of Service’. A Daughter
pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer,
service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of
Christ’s Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual
life of the parish.
The emblem of the Order is in the form of
a modified Greek fleury cross inscribed in Latin,
“Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine,” the watchword of the
Order, meaning, “With heart, mind and spirit uphold and
bear the cross.” In the Rule of Service, we vow to
participate regularly in the worship, study and work of
the church, to assist our priests in any way possible,
and to bring others to a knowledge and love of our Lord.
The Holy Spirit Chapter of the
Daughters sponsors many events including a DOK Study course
for four new members, a reception to honor these new
members following the installation,
the DOK makes communion bread for Holy Eucharist for the
50 days of Easter and makes bread for the four Sundays
of Advent, on-going work with the Crisis Line
and Safehouse for victims of domestic violence and
sexual assault (Christ Church is one of the charter
members), and providing 40 bag lunches to Loaves and
Fishes on the first Tuesday of each quarter.
We hold weekly meeting at 9:30 on Wednesdays during the
summer months and participate in the Curate's Wednesday
Bible Study at 10:30 am thru the summer. The Daughters
will resume meeting each Wednesday at 5:00 pm for
prayers and fellowship with the Wonderful Wednesday
programs.

Bible Study

reservations or prior arrangements required, all men are
invited to come as they are.
